The Tree Dedication Ceremony for The Art Guys Marry A Plant

The Menil Collection

On Saturday, November 19, 2011, at 10:30 a.m., a public ceremony will be held at The Menil Collection to dedicate the planting of the live oak tree from The Art Guys Marry A Plant . The tree was planted on the grounds of The Menil Collection on March 29, 2011 and was formally accepted into the permanent collection on June 2, 2011 as a gift from The Art Guys. "The Tree Dedication Ceremony of The Art Guys Marry A Plant" will include speakers Toby Kamps, Menil curator of modern and contemporary art, Lawrence Weschler, writer and Director of the New York Institute of the Humanities, and James Surls, artist. The tree is located in Menil Park on the grounds of the Menil Collection just southwest of the Rothko Chapel. [STREET MAP, SATELLITE MAP] This event will take place rain or shine. Immediately following The Tree Dedication Ceremony for The Art Guys Marry A Plant, the audience is invited to attend a reception at The Art Guys Studio featuring "Mountains Out of Molehills," an exhibition of selected insignificant works spanning The Art Guys 28 years of collaboration. Noon until 2:00 p.m. The Art Guys are represented by McClain Gallery in Houston.
